The Georgetown Hoyas extended their conference winning streak to five games, defeating Seton Hall 73-61 and snapping the Pirates’ five game winning streak in the process. Jessie Sapp scored a team high 17 points in the win and Hibbert and Ewing each added 16. With the win, the Hoyas remain in sole possession of first place in the Big East with an 8-1 conference record halfway through the Big East schedule.

In the first half, Seton Hall used their pressure defense to stay close to the Hoyas, forcing 13 turnovers in the first 20 minutes, more than Georgetown’s per-game average. But after back to back threes late in the half by DaJuan Summers, the Hoyas extended to a seven point halftime lead.

To start the second half, Georgetown was much better against the Pirates’ defense and through the inside force of Roy Hibbert, led by as many as 12. Seton Hall rallied to cut the lead to four, at which point the Hoyas responded immediately as they were led by Patrick Ewing J.r, who scored 10 points down the stretch. Brian Laing had a game high 24 points in the losing effort for the Pirates.

The Hoyas’ next game is Tuesday when Georgetown hosts South Florida in their second straight home game. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30pm.
