It had been a long time since Georgetown came up with a dominant second half performance, but that is exactly what they need ed and got in their 68-58 win over the Providence Friars. Georgetown reversed two recent bad trends: poor rebounding and turnovers. The Hoyas outrebounded Providence 43-26, and earned 27 second-chance points to the Friars one. Georgetown also only committed 10 turnovers, six less than their average over the last five games.

Through sharp shooting from long range, Providence turned a seven point first half deficit into a six point second half lead, led by Weyinmi Efejuku, who shot 5-6 from downtown. At that point, the Hoyas took control, thanks in large part to the reserves. Patrick Ewing came up with two steals and a layup, and Tyler Crawford and Jeremiah River each hit a three pointer. Jonathan Wallace made three three-pointers during Georgetown’s critical run and finished with 14 points. Roy Hibbert led the Hoyas with 18 points, eight rebounds and six blocks.

The Hoyas now return home for two in a row, and finish the season with three out of four at Verizon Center. They kick off that stretch this Saturday at 12:00 PM against Cincinnati.
