Georgetown (#11) | 27 | 37 | 64 |
DaJuan Summers scored a game-high 21 points, as Georgetown eventually wore down St. John’s to win 64-52. The Red Storm shot the ball well throughout the game, finishing the night 45.8% from the field, and Anthony Mason Jr. hit a three pointer to cut the lead to one with under 13 minutes to play.
But the Hoyas pulled away from that point as Jonathan Wallace answered with a three of his own to spark a 12-2 run. That stretch pushed the lead up to 11, and the game never got closer than eight after that. Roy Hibbert played a key role in that surge, as 13 of his 17 points in second half.
The Georgetown starters scored all but two points for the Hoyas. The lone bench basket was the result of a nice 2-on-1 fast break with Patrick Ewing and Jonathan Wallace that ended with an alley-oop slam by Ewing.
Georgetown now heads to Wisconsin to play the Marquette Golden Eagles in what will be the final road game of the season for the Hoyas. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 PM on Saturday.
