The Georgetown Hoyas defeated the Villanova Wildcats 82-63 to advance to the Big East Tournament semifinal for the third straight year. The Hoyas pulled out to a 15 point lead midway through the first half and took an 11 point lead into halftime. However, Villanova started the half on a 18-3 run to take a 47-43 lead, and the game looked like it would be another nail biter for Hoya fans.

This was not to be the case, as Georgetown answered with a 16-3 run of their own to gain a bit of separation. After two free throws cut the lead to seven with five minutes left, Georgetown went on a 13-1 run to put the game out of reach.
The Hoyas were without unanimous first-team All-Big East selection Roy Hibbert for most of the game due to foul trouble, and as a result he only had four minutes of action in the second half. For the first time since his freshman season, Hibbert ended the game with zero points before fouling out.

The rest of the team responded, however, putting on a clinic of drive-and-dish three pointers. The Hoyas made a school-record 17 shots from beyond the arc, Jessie Sapp leading the way with six en route to his game high 23 points. The Wildcats were without their All-Big East guard Scottie Reynolds for portions of the game, due to a head injury suffered in the first half. Despite the injury he led Villanova with 13 points, and three other Wildcats contributed 12 points each.

The Hoyas remain perfect against Villanova in the Big East Tournament and are 13-0 as a Big East number one seed. Georgetown will face the winner of the West Viriginia-Connecticut game, with tip-off scheduled at 7:00 PM.
