  • Georgetown opened their Big East portion of the season with a 12 point win over the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. Austin Freeman paced the Hoyas with 13 points, and Jonathan Wallace added 11.
  • Jeff Green returned to the Verizon Center to play his first game as a pro at the court he called home for three years. The Sonics fell to the Wizards 108-86.
  • Allen Iverson also had an emotional game as the Nuggets hosted AI’s former team, the Philadelphia 76ers. Iverson scored 38 points on 56% shooting and dished out 8 assists to lead the Nuggets to a 109-96 victory.
  • Brandon Bowman, class of 2006, left the Bakersfield Jam of the NBA’s Development League to join the Italian club Ignis Novara, located in the Piedmont region. In his first game yesterday, Brandon scored 21 points, shooting 60% from the field. Bowman will play for the Second Division Dragons for the remainder of the season.
  • #1 North Carolina eked out an overtime victory in their ACC opener to remain perfect on the season and in doing so handed Clemson its first loss of the year. Clemson led by one with 5 seconds remaining in overtime, when Ty Lawson found Wayne Ellington beyond the three point arc. Ellington buried the jumper with .4 seconds remaining and sealed the victory.
