Centers of Attention
By Hoya HoopsIn our pregame predictions for this Saturday’s game against Connecticut, we mentioned the challenge Roy Hibbert will have squaring off against Hasheem Thabeet. The center duel helped this question come about:
What is your favorite memory from a Hoya big man?
We can think of lots of great plays by Georgetown centers throughout the years, but our favorite has to be the Patrick Ewing dunk in the 1984 semifinal game against Kentucky. Yes, we know the basket was waved off since he technically traveled beforehand, but that thunderous one-handed slam can still get a boisterous reaction from any Hoya crowd. What do you think?

Does Jahidi White not count as a big man? I used to love his multiple “pump fakes” directly under the basket! Seriously, though, I remember driving through campus with my family once when I was in like 4th grade and we saw Dikembe as we drove by McDonough. That was really exciting!

Im too young to remember patrick, dikembe, and alonzo, so i will say the last second dunk by Roy against Notre Dame, that brought the house down!

a little obscure maybe, but i love the ncaa tournament game against weber st., where iverson airballs a desperation 3 but don reid is there to put in the rebound. you see thomspon doing a silly dance that he calls the “uncle john”. great moment for me.
