Notre Dame Recap

By Hoya Hoops

For the second year in a row, the Georgetown Hoyas earned a blowout victory over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in front of over 19,000 fans at the Verizon Center. Georgetown was led by Roy Hibbert, who led all scorers with 21 points, 13 coming in the first half. Roy was strong at both ends of the court, holding Notre Dame center and conference leading scorer Luke Harangody to 12 points on 3-13 from the field. The Irish as a whole struggled offensively, shooting only 32.8% on the day.

The Hoyas’ long distance shooting continued to struggle, going 2-11 in the first half, but Hibbert was dominant inside, and Georgetown took a 13 point lead into halftime. In the second half, the Hoyas found their range from downtown, hitting on six of nine attempts, and Notre Dame never got closer than 11 after the break. DaJuan Summers also had a strong game, with 17 points to go along with 11 rebounds.

It’s another quick turnaround for the Hoyas, as they again play on Big Monday, this time hosting the Syracuse Orange. Tip off is slated for 7:00 PM.

I knew Lic was dispensing with punctuation, but with spaces now, too? I’m proud that Roy’s one of the few big men who can hit threes in clutch situations. *cough* Hansbrough *cough*
