UCONN Still on Top

The new rankings came out yesterday, and the Big East has three teams in the top five according to the AP poll. Connecticut was named #1 in both polls for the second consecutive week after there had been a change in the top spot for the past five weeks.
UCONN’s Hasheem Thabeet was named Big East Player of the Week after racking up two double doubles over the week while shooting 77% from the field. Cincinnati’s Yanci Gates took home the Big East Rookie of the Week award.
Last night, Pittsburgh defeated West Virginia 70-59 on Big Monday. It was the fourth consecutive win for the Panthers, but the first in that stretch in which they scored less than 90 points.
