The Little Angel
By TonyYesterday, I let the negative side of me talk about the Hoyas’ recent skid. Today, the optimistic, happy guy is going to be doing the talking. Take it away:
Remember The Lion King? After the death of his father Mufasa, young Simba runs away from home and years later the baboon Rafiki helps him talk to the ghost of Mufasa. Then Simba’s father reprimands him for running away from his past with specific instructions, “Remember who you are” That is what the current Hoyas need to be reminded of. In fact, Coach’s father should be the one to remind them - he sounds a little like James Earl Jones anyway. Jessie, Greg, DaJuan, Austin, et al, “You are more than what you have become. Remember who you are!”
That’s all it will take. The Hoyas that we’ve seen for the last months are not the real Hoyas. The real Hoyas are the team that won at UCONN and crushed Syracuse and beat Maryland by 30 points. In fact, the problem of the current situation goes back to something that our colleagues at Hoya Blue have been saying for years. “We are Georgetown. Some have forgotten. We will remind them.”
That’s all there is too it. Originally they meant, Syracuse and Villanova had forgotten, but now, the players themselves seem to have forgotten. There is no doubt that the Hoyas have the tools to save the season, but the real question is do they have the courage. That’s a question that only the players themselves can answer. They’ll have their chance on Saturday. Remember who you are.
