Georgetown lost its first game of the season, losing to the Memphis Tigers, 85-71. Douglas-Freeman had a game-high 24 points, as the Hoyas drop to 8-1 on the season.
In the first half, the Hoyas led by as many as eight but missed on several opportunities to push the lead farther. Memphis closed the half on a 16-5 run to take a three point lead heading into the break.
Georgetown briefly regained the lead early in the second half, before Memphis went on another big run, to take a 17 point lead. The Hoyas were never in sync offensively at that point, and Memphis did an excellent job on the boards, outrebounding the Hoyas 43-30. Austin Freeman led the Hoyas in scoring for the third straight game, but for the first time in a losing effort.
The Hoyas next game is December 29th against local rivals American University. That game is set to begin at 1:00PM at the Verizon Center.
