Hey everybody, Johnny here at the Verizon Center. We’re still about 11 hours from 2008, but we’re only one hour away from the last Hoyas game of the year. The teams are warming up right now, and one thing of note: Nikita Mescheriakov is dressed and ready to play after his ten game suspension. He’s warming up with the rest of the guys, and be sure to look out for him if the Hoyas start to get a comfortable lead.
I’ll check back in with the starting lineups in a few.
December 31st, 2007 at 1:28 pm
So here’s what I got for you:
Same 5 for the Hoyas: Wallace, Summers, Sapp, Ewing, and Hibbert
For the Rams, it looks like it’ll be: Stout, Munson, Tanner, Landisch, and Anderson.
And the refs will be Jamie Luckie, Jeff Clark, and Joe Lindsay
December 31st, 2007 at 1:38 pm
Actually, I think that those are not the starters for Fordham. Looks like there are some issues with the stats and the scoreboard here a little before tip-off; I’ll let you know when I get the real ones.
December 31st, 2007 at 1:48 pm
Here are Fordham’s real starters now:
Anderson, Moore, Butler, Greene, and Dunston
December 31st, 2007 at 1:50 pm
that makes more sense. I thought I remembered a Dunston in their team leaders.
December 31st, 2007 at 1:51 pm
lets’s come out strong and get ready for Big East play on Sat
December 31st, 2007 at 2:05 pm
I’m tuned in to Chvotkin again…let’s take care of this early so that we can all enjoy our champagne…all of us over 21 that is.
December 31st, 2007 at 2:07 pm
Is Austin Freeman starting?
December 31st, 2007 at 2:07 pm
Roy’s back with an undershirt today, and we’re just about set to tip it off.
December 31st, 2007 at 2:07 pm
Freeman is starting, looks like no Ewing after all.
December 31st, 2007 at 2:08 pm
And Austin hits a three to start the scoring.
December 31st, 2007 at 2:10 pm
Nice read from Sapp leads to a steal and breakaway layup.
December 31st, 2007 at 2:12 pm
Wayto go DaJuan
December 31st, 2007 at 2:13 pm
Nice team defense as Fordham tried to push it up, and then nice transition offense led to a Summers dunk
December 31st, 2007 at 2:14 pm
Wallace hits a three to put the Hoyas up 15-4 and Fordham needs a timeout.
That 3 puts Wallace tied with Kevin Braswell for all-time team leader with 189 hit three-pointers
December 31st, 2007 at 2:14 pm
Congratulations Jonathan. Maybe he can take the sole lead later on today.
December 31st, 2007 at 2:15 pm
nice take austin!
December 31st, 2007 at 2:18 pm
And there’s #190. We have a new all time three point leader.
December 31st, 2007 at 2:19 pm
I didn’t expect it to be that quick. Congrats again, Jon
December 31st, 2007 at 2:20 pm
Another steal and Summers dunk puts the score at 29-8 and Fordham needs another timeout.
The Hoyas are shooting 80% from the field, including 5-6 from downtown.
December 31st, 2007 at 2:22 pm
Wallace won’t quit. He wants to hit 1000 points by halftime. He just hit another 3 to put his game total at 11. He’s got 996 career points.
December 31st, 2007 at 2:24 pm
Quote from Rich Chvotkin today, “The Hoyas putting the hurt on Fordham early!”
December 31st, 2007 at 2:26 pm
Macklin just got the Hoyas’ 5th team foul, but all 5 have been on different players. Fordham’s got 0 team fouls so far.
December 31st, 2007 at 2:27 pm
and now nice take Jeremiah!
December 31st, 2007 at 2:28 pm
Summers is 5-5 including 3-3 from three point land. He’s got 13 and the Hoyas are up 41-11
December 31st, 2007 at 2:29 pm

December 31st, 2007 at 2:30 pm
Hoyas up 41-14 with 7:12 as we hit the 8 minute timeout
December 31st, 2007 at 2:31 pm
Chvotkin said the Hoyas were 17 for 20 from the field…earlier he said the Hoyas were 7 for 10 FG…that’s 10 straight made baskets. It could be 11 or 12 in a row from the field…anybody know for sure?
December 31st, 2007 at 2:35 pm
WOW- nice blcok Roy!
December 31st, 2007 at 2:36 pm
Roy just hit a jumper with his toes on the three point line.
December 31st, 2007 at 2:43 pm
There’s Wallace’s first miss of the game, but the Hoyas are still shooting 69%
December 31st, 2007 at 2:46 pm
nice first half hoyas! 50 already
December 31st, 2007 at 2:47 pm
Stout hit two free throws to end the scoring in the first half. Hoyas lead 50-27. Stout has 17 of the Rams’ 27, and for the Hoyas, Summers’ 13 and Wallace’s 11 lead the way.
December 31st, 2007 at 3:01 pm
Tony, the Hoyas hit 13 straight shots in the first half running from Summers’ dunk with 16:10 to go until Wright got his layup blocked with 7:48 to go.
December 31st, 2007 at 3:02 pm
Roy hits a three to start the scoring in the second half. That’s his first career 3 pointer. He’s got a ways to go to catch up to Jon though.
December 31st, 2007 at 3:08 pm
At the 16:00 timeout, Hoyas are winning by 30, 59-29.
December 31st, 2007 at 3:11 pm

December 31st, 2007 at 3:21 pm

December 31st, 2007 at 3:34 pm
Omar is set to check in…Nikita next?
December 31st, 2007 at 3:35 pm
Ewing just fouled out with 3 points. Not a good game for Pat - all 3 points came from the line, as he was 0-5 from the field.
December 31st, 2007 at 3:37 pm
that’s alright pat. everyone else stepped up! now its omar’s turn
December 31st, 2007 at 3:37 pm
And now Nikita is set to check in.
December 31st, 2007 at 3:39 pm
Nope. Thompson switched him out. Jansen came in instead.
December 31st, 2007 at 3:40 pm
What?? Let the boy play. he’s waited long enough
December 31st, 2007 at 3:41 pm
They just showed Wallace on the big screen for breaking the three point record with 192
December 31st, 2007 at 3:43 pm
Alright, there’s the final buzzer. Hoyas win 82-55. Not the best second half, but they didn’t need it after the first.
That’s the end of the “preseason” as the Big East season starts on Saturday at Rutgers.
