Hello everyone. Johnny here, less than half an hour away from tipoff of Georgetown’s last out-of-conference game of the season. Georgetown at Duke. Last time the Hoyas made it out to Cameron, things didn’t go the Hoyas’ way, and if you look at the series history, the Hoyas have yet to win a game in Durham.
I’ll be filling you in with all you need to know, and comments are open. Check back as often as you can.

Starting lineups:
Same 5 for the Hoyas: Summers, Wright, Monroe, Freeman and Sapp.
And for the Blue Devils, it will be Scheyer, Smith, McClure, Henderson, and Singler… Zoubek is on the bench
Refs are Cahill, Burr, and Hull.
January 17th, 2009 at 1:37 pm
Hoyas win the tip and Freeman misses a three on the first possession.
January 17th, 2009 at 1:38 pm
is this game in internet radio anywhere?
January 17th, 2009 at 1:40 pm
Smith and Summers swap threes, and a foul on Freeman.
January 17th, 2009 at 1:41 pm
The game’s on ESPN 980. Not sure about internet.
Freeman just picked up his 2nd personal, less than 3 minutes in.
January 17th, 2009 at 1:43 pm
Good rebounding start for the Hoyas so far.
January 17th, 2009 at 1:46 pm
Sorry, Hoya Lady, I just checked and I couldn’t listen to the game online from the ESPN980 website.
January 17th, 2009 at 1:48 pm
Great D!
January 17th, 2009 at 1:49 pm
Wattad just caused a jump ball on defense. (Omar and Clark recently checked in for the Hoyas.) Forced a shot clock violation.
January 17th, 2009 at 1:50 pm
Oh I love DaJuan.
January 17th, 2009 at 1:53 pm
Duke flop trying to get Austin his third foul, but he just takes the layup – no foul.
January 17th, 2009 at 2:01 pm
Can they not call a foul on Duke?
January 17th, 2009 at 2:02 pm
Nice shot, Freeman.
January 17th, 2009 at 2:02 pm
Vaughn blocks Singler’s shot and Austin gets another three, 27-23.
January 17th, 2009 at 2:07 pm
Duke can’t commit a foul even if they try
January 17th, 2009 at 2:10 pm
Monroe gets slapped all over, he dribbles past his man, stops, passes, and a help “defender” falls down to give Monroe his second foul.
January 17th, 2009 at 2:14 pm
Timeout Georgetown with 4:13 left in the half, Duke winning 32-29.
January 17th, 2009 at 2:20 pm
Henderson is making everything right now. The hoyas have to respond.
January 17th, 2009 at 2:21 pm
Monroe comes in for a minute, picks up his third offensive foul. There’s two minutes to play in the half.
January 17th, 2009 at 2:27 pm
Hoyas are heading into the half trailing 40-29. They didn’t score a field goal in the last 7:58.
Greg Monroe, who started 4-4, had to sit out most of the half, but still ended up with 3 personals – all off the ball offensive fouls, one moving screen, and two charges after having passed the ball.
Duke, meanwhile, is shooting 56% from the field.
January 17th, 2009 at 2:41 pm
Wattad and Clark start the second half in place of Wright and Sapp.
January 17th, 2009 at 2:46 pm
Duke started the half scoring the first four, and the Hoyas have scored nine straight before Singler put the Duke lead back to 8
January 17th, 2009 at 2:47 pm
16:00 timeout, Hoyas only down 5, 46-41.
January 17th, 2009 at 2:52 pm
Hoyas are getting back in this game thanks to some aggresive play by Summers, getting to the line.
January 17th, 2009 at 2:52 pm
Good run by the Hoyas to make this game close, lets see if they can keep up the pressure.
January 17th, 2009 at 2:54 pm
I have never seen a player get a technical foul while sitting on the bench. That is totally incredible.
January 17th, 2009 at 2:54 pm
Horrible call against Sims as Singler dives out of bounds for the ball. Then, they call a technical against Thompson as John Cahill thinks he said something but the Hoyas claim it was from behind the bench.
Refs are losing control here.
January 17th, 2009 at 2:55 pm
Hoyas call timeout, down ten again. Hoyas should have had the ball down four, but Duke gets 4 free points and then a steal/layup to push it back to ten.
January 17th, 2009 at 2:57 pm
Ok, that’s not true. I think that referee Crawford gave one to Tim Duncan once, and then he got suspended for the remainder of the NBA season.
January 17th, 2009 at 3:00 pm
So apparently, that bench technical was on Greg Monroe, who was not in the game. He has four fouls without having the ball and neither time, did he have the ball or did a Duke player have the ball.
January 17th, 2009 at 3:07 pm
Hoyas still struggling from the free throw line. It makes it that much harder to catch up.
January 17th, 2009 at 3:07 pm
With 11 minutes left, Greg is checking back in.
January 17th, 2009 at 3:12 pm
Intentional foul on Singler is his 4th. Wattad hits them both, and now it’s 11, 61-50.
January 17th, 2009 at 3:15 pm
Time is starting to become an issue. The Hoyas are going to have to start closing this gap.
January 17th, 2009 at 3:17 pm
63-54 Duke with 6:40 to go in the game. Official timeout.
January 17th, 2009 at 3:21 pm
Wattad runs into McClure, falls down, and gets the call he wants, a charge on McClure. Strange game today.
January 17th, 2009 at 3:23 pm
Summers misses 2 important FTs
January 17th, 2009 at 3:31 pm
Teams trade baskets, Hoyas still down 10 with under 4 minutes to play.
January 17th, 2009 at 3:34 pm
The Hoyas are in trouble now. The missed free throws had a big impact again, as a six point game is a lot different than a ten point one. Too bad that Greg Monroe didnt get to play due to questionable calls.
January 17th, 2009 at 3:36 pm
Tough game for the Hoyas. Subs got plenty of experience playing against a good team .
January 17th, 2009 at 3:39 pm
Wattad’s three cuts it to 5, but there’s 37.5 seconds to go, and 93% FT shooter Smith goes to the line
January 17th, 2009 at 3:40 pm
That looks like it’ll do it. Hoyas down 74-67 with Scheyer going to the line and 15.4 on the clock.
January 17th, 2009 at 3:41 pm
That’s game. Georgetown falls 76-67 against Duke.
