Hello, Hoya fans! Mike here, we are about 20 minutes away from tip-off as Georgetown travels north to take on Syracuse. The last time these two teams met it was a classic, and it is never easy to play at the Carrier Dome. Hopefully, the Hoyas can pull out a W and stay on top of the standings in the Big East.
Feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments, and I’ll be providing in-game commentary from now until the final horn.

lets go hoyas, pound it inside, wear them out…they only play 5 players, make em run, get em tired, then takeover. hoya saxa!!
February 16th, 2008 at 12:00 pm
Same starters for the Hoyas, Wallace, Sapp, Freeman, Summers, Hibbert.
For Syracuse: Flynn Harris, Ongenaet, Greene, Onuaku
February 16th, 2008 at 12:02 pm
Two turnovers for the Hoyas to start the game, still 0-0.
February 16th, 2008 at 12:02 pm
no way that was a travel on wallace!!!
February 16th, 2008 at 12:03 pm
Wallace makes a mid-range floater to start the scoring, 2-0.
February 16th, 2008 at 12:04 pm
jeez, too many turnovers… gotta clean it up
February 16th, 2008 at 12:05 pm
Foul on Hibbert, his first, team first, Onuaku misses the free throw, we’re tied at 2.
February 16th, 2008 at 12:05 pm
poetic justice, now make the fts dajuan
February 16th, 2008 at 12:06 pm
Summers fouled shooting a three-pointer, he makes two out of three, but had lots of rim on all of them.
February 16th, 2008 at 12:06 pm
nice!!
February 16th, 2008 at 12:07 pm
gotta keep them off the boards, they are getting too many offensive rebounds
February 16th, 2008 at 12:08 pm
Roy fouled, as he will be shooting two on the other side of the timeout, Hoyas lead 7-4 with 14:39 left in the first.
February 16th, 2008 at 12:12 pm
Hibbert is getting into the habit of clearly goaltending shots. That one makes it 8-6 for the Boys in Blue.
February 16th, 2008 at 12:12 pm
Macklin in for Roy.
February 16th, 2008 at 12:13 pm
Now, Patrick Ewing Jr. is in, replacing Freeman.
February 16th, 2008 at 12:13 pm
two tos for macklin in like two minutes, not good at all
February 16th, 2008 at 12:14 pm
Macklin is struggling again. He needs to step it up
February 16th, 2008 at 12:14 pm
hoyas porb have 8 tos already
February 16th, 2008 at 12:15 pm
Summers picked up a foul, so now he, Sapp, and Hibbert have one a piece.
February 16th, 2008 at 12:16 pm
nice jwal
February 16th, 2008 at 12:17 pm
11:29 left in the first, Hoyas trail by seven, 17-10.
February 16th, 2008 at 12:19 pm
what??? patrick ewing is only 16 on all time greatest college players?? what a joke!!!
February 16th, 2008 at 12:20 pm
another turnover, we dont even get shots
February 16th, 2008 at 12:21 pm
Hibbert picked up his second foul, the Hoyas now trail by 10.
February 16th, 2008 at 12:22 pm
hoyas are overpassing against the zone in the crowded middle causing turnovers
February 16th, 2008 at 12:22 pm
come on macklin, give us a lift now that hibby is out
February 16th, 2008 at 12:24 pm
Foul on Macklin, his first, team fifth.
February 16th, 2008 at 12:25 pm
The Hoyas use a 30 second timeout, let’s see if we can set up an inbounds play.
February 16th, 2008 at 12:28 pm
we’re done, lets just forfiet and get on the bus to providence now
February 16th, 2008 at 12:28 pm
Coach Thompson calls another timeout, the score getting out of hand. Hoyas now trail 30-12. Syracuse is on a 26-4 run.
February 16th, 2008 at 12:29 pm
I’m just sitting down to watch. What’s the deal? Are we just missing our shots or what?
February 16th, 2008 at 12:30 pm
Official Timeout with 6:48 left in the half. Hoyas ball, still trailing by 18.
February 16th, 2008 at 12:32 pm
@HoyaGray: The Hoyas have a ton of turnovers, which lets Syracuse get fast break points. Also, Syracuse is getting good looks because the Hoyas are not closing down on defense. Georgetown also seem a little tentative to shoot, trying to penetrate, which is not working right now.
February 16th, 2008 at 12:32 pm
We’re not a poor outside shooting team!! What is Fran Fraschillo talking about??
February 16th, 2008 at 12:34 pm
nice dajuan, thats a start, lets go now
February 16th, 2008 at 12:36 pm
have to get some stops, they are getting wide open jumpers
February 16th, 2008 at 12:38 pm
3:34 left in the half, Syracuse ball, the Orange leading by 19, 36-17.
February 16th, 2008 at 12:39 pm
This is definitely not a great start for the Hoyas. And they definitely need to hit some shots if they want to have a chance in this game. But if Syracuse expects to run up and down the court for 40 minutes with only 6 guys getting minutes, they are going to run into some trouble eventually.
February 16th, 2008 at 12:43 pm
no foul there, refs just giving them free points, not like they need it
February 16th, 2008 at 12:43 pm
nice jwal!!!!!!!!!
February 16th, 2008 at 12:44 pm
nice defense hoyas!!!! now score
February 16th, 2008 at 12:46 pm
Syracuse’s their use-or-lose timeout, with the ball up 16. Let’s hope the Hoyas can get a stop to end the half on a positive note.
February 16th, 2008 at 12:48 pm
Doug Gottleib is the biggest jerk allowed on television.
It’s only halftime, let’s make him eat his words.
February 16th, 2008 at 12:49 pm
Well, the Hoyas maybe got away with a goaltend to end the half, but they’ll take it. Georgetown trails 38-22 at the half. The lead was as big as 21. A bigger problem than the offense for the Hoyas is the defense. Allowing 38 points in a half in not a recipe for success. Let’s see if the Hoyas can pick it up in the second.
February 16th, 2008 at 12:51 pm
“They’ve played average teams in the Big East at home, and they’re not crushing them” –Gottleib
Didn’t we CRUSH Notre Dame, an above average team in the BE? And we beat - didn’t crush - a very good team in the Big East: UCONN??
Who else didn’t we crush? Syracuse and Villanova. We definitely crushed Seton Hall and USF.
And away, we CRUSHED St. John’s, Rutgers, and DePaul. Absurd.
February 16th, 2008 at 12:56 pm
HoyaGray, Depaul and St. John’s were on the ROAD, so those crushes don’t count. Good teams crush people at home and home only.
February 16th, 2008 at 1:04 pm
Second half underway, Syracuse’s ball and they start with an offensive rebound and then an airball three pointer.
February 16th, 2008 at 1:05 pm
nice start hoyas, keep it uP!
February 16th, 2008 at 1:06 pm
thats it, gotta keep getting that 12 fter for roy
February 16th, 2008 at 1:07 pm
I love that freethrow line jumper
February 16th, 2008 at 1:07 pm
offensive rebounds still killing us
February 16th, 2008 at 1:08 pm
sapppppp
February 16th, 2008 at 1:09 pm
Syracuse use a 30 that gets stretched to a full, with a second under 16 minutes to play, Hoyas still trail, but they are now only down by nine.
February 16th, 2008 at 1:13 pm
Another timeout, 15:19 left in the game, Hoyas ball on the alternating possession, still trailing by nine.
February 16th, 2008 at 1:15 pm
come on hoyas, keep up the good play,
February 16th, 2008 at 1:16 pm
backdoor, nice, the cuse are starting to fall asleep
February 16th, 2008 at 1:18 pm
back to 13, ugh
February 16th, 2008 at 1:18 pm
Refs are a joke, traveling????
February 16th, 2008 at 1:19 pm
Third foul on Hibbert, joining Summers who also has three.
February 16th, 2008 at 1:20 pm
Hoyas use a timeout, as the lead balloons back up to 15, 12:21 left.
February 16th, 2008 at 1:20 pm
Playing smart is usually our strength but we’re getting freaked out by their size today.
February 16th, 2008 at 1:22 pm
Syracuse ball, now leading by 17, with 11:06 to go in the game.
February 16th, 2008 at 1:25 pm
we’re done, we had a chance when it was 7, but 17 with 11 is too steep. disgusting preformance today, we played hard for 4 minutes outscored them by 9 then gave up again
February 16th, 2008 at 1:26 pm
Fourth foul on Hibbert, Flynn to shoot two.
February 16th, 2008 at 1:29 pm
wallace is making his 3s today, a good sign at lteas
February 16th, 2008 at 1:30 pm
How many fouls do they have to commit on this one play? Ewing should have made the dunk anyay, but he was smacked!
February 16th, 2008 at 1:31 pm
ewing got pushed in the back there, could be intentional, but refs didnt even call it
February 16th, 2008 at 1:31 pm
Syracuse use another 30. Back to a seven-point game, but last time it was this score the Orange went on a 10-0 run. Let’s see if the Hoyas can prevent a repeat performance.
February 16th, 2008 at 1:32 pm
cmon hoyas
February 16th, 2008 at 1:33 pm
Reach called on Ewing, same situation, Syracuse ball, up seven, with a little under eight minutes to play.
February 16th, 2008 at 1:36 pm
what a tip by PJ
February 16th, 2008 at 1:38 pm
Important play - absolutely no foul. Ridiculous!!
February 16th, 2008 at 1:38 pm
an amazingly horrible call there
February 16th, 2008 at 1:41 pm
big shot jessie!
February 16th, 2008 at 1:42 pm
Hoyas ball with 3:50 to play, Georgetown trailing 64-55.
February 16th, 2008 at 1:43 pm
hoyas not giving up
February 16th, 2008 at 1:45 pm
need the fts here
February 16th, 2008 at 1:48 pm
darnit, real good look, just didnt fall
February 16th, 2008 at 1:48 pm
How is that a shooting foul?
February 16th, 2008 at 1:49 pm
thats theg ame there
February 16th, 2008 at 1:50 pm
Thompson uses his penultimate timeout, Hoyas still trailing by nine, it’s definitely an uphill climb.
February 16th, 2008 at 1:52 pm
Such a boehim play there, 10 second violation with a 9 point lead
February 16th, 2008 at 1:56 pm
Hoyas miss a three, and after the two free throws by Harris are down 11 with under a minute. The comeback came up a little short.
February 16th, 2008 at 2:01 pm
hoyas need to start games with more poise. Could have easily been a W if we hadn’t fallen so far behind.
February 16th, 2008 at 2:01 pm
Wallace has his shot today, good sign in a miserable game
February 16th, 2008 at 2:04 pm
The biggest problem the Hoyas have had this season is the abundance of turnovers. The inability to adjust the offense when things don’t go well is JT3’s biggest problem as a coach. The only “hurry up” offense they have when they are down is to hoist up quick 3’s. JT3 is a good coach, maybe a very good one. But unless he can prepare his team so they can make adjustments when the offense isn’t working, the Hoyas will continue to have problems in games like this. How can he just watch when they couldn’t make a simple entry pass in the first half? This was the biggest knock on Boeheim for years and I’d hate to see it applied to JT3.
February 16th, 2008 at 2:04 pm
ESPN was having real trouble with their scoreboard, I couldn’t tell if it were 5 or 6 or 7 for a long time cause the took so long to update it. No matter what, we couldn’t have won, but you can’t rush the court with time left nad have no repercussions. Amateur officiating.
February 16th, 2008 at 2:06 pm
Hoyas fall to Syracuse 77-70
February 17th, 2008 at 7:23 pm
Can’t believe the whining about the refs, there were questionable calls on both sides but there were probably more against the Hoyas. How about that Greene 3ball that he got smacked on but no call.
