Georgetown mounted an impressive comeback Saturday, rallying from twelve points down to take a 45-43 lead on Nate Lubick’s lay-up after having trailed since the opening minutes. Having taken the lead, though, the Hoyas stalled, unable to muster any more offense. Three-pointers went awry, as they had all day, and unforced turnovers followed. Georgetown’s offensive ineptitude–the Hoyas shot just 36 percent from the field, while committing 16 turnovers–may have been a sign of how much they miss senior guard Chris Wright, who missed the game after breaking his hand in Wednesday’s game against Cincinnati. The loss, the Hoyas’ third in four games, essentially drops them out of contention for the double-bye at the top of the Big East. But a series of losses elsewhere in the Big East has left Georgetown in a six-way tie for sixth place in the loss column. A win Saturday at Cincinnati would go a long way to locking up sixth place.

Hey everybody, Johnny here at Verizon Center. There’s a lot of gray here for Senior Day as the entire lower bowl and the mezzanine are covered with Gray Out shirts for the Hoya fans coming to this sold out game between Georgetown and Syracuse.
There’s also a lot of press here, and I’ve been kicked out of my usual spot behind the basket and I’m sitting in the corner above one of the tunnels. There are a ton of NBA scouts here today and I saw a few of the Dallas Mavericks already here for their game tonight against the Wizards.
There are not too many fans here yet besides the packed student sections, as both sides are starting their warm ups.
The scoreboard reads that Chris Wright will be starting, but that’s been known to change before. Chris is out there, wearing his warmup uniforms and not a suit, but he’s not touching a ball working out with the team; he’s just watching. His left hand has mainly been in his shirt pocket, but when he pulled it out, it looked like it was not wrapped up in tape or any sort of brace.
As the ball rolled to him though, he kicked it up to his teammates instead of passing it with his hands.
So here’s the info I have for you so far.
The scoreboard currently says it will be the same starters – Wright, Freeman, Clark, Lubick, and Vaughn.
The Orange will be starting Jackson, Jardine, Keita, Triche, and Joseph.
The refs for this afternoon are going to be Bob Donato, Gene Steratore, and Les Jones.
Keep checking back for more updates. I’ll let you know who the official starters are as soon as I find out more.

Before the Cincinnati game, we asked everyone how many points and assists Chris would rack up against the Bearcats. We all know what happened in that game, and so everyone went over with their guesses. The closest, though, was Bobby Cox, so congratulations we guess. We’re sure Bobby would trade the win for a Hoya victory and a healthy Chris.
It is a huge game for the Hoyas on Saturday. It will be the first game since Chris Wright broke a bone in his hand. It is the final home game of the season. It is the final home game in the careers of the Hoya Seniors – Austin Freeman, Chris Wright, Julian Vaughn, and Ryan Dougherty. Oh, and the opponent is Syracuse.
On Thursday, the University released a statement about the status of Wright’s injury. However, there was no indication about how many games he would miss, if any. It’s almost certain, though, that he will miss at least the Syracuse game. So, on to the Pregame Prediction.
Assuming Chris Wright is NOT in the starting line-up, which player will start in his place and how many points and assists will that player have?
Our guess, Hollis Thompson with 14 Points, 3 Assists. It’s the safest move in terms of experience, but it will make some players have to shift roles a bit. What do you think?

Teams
Georgetown:
The Hoyas suffered a serious setback, having one of their worst offensive nights in recent memory and losing to Cincinnati 58-46. At first glance, it seemed like this game couldn’t have been worse for Georgetown. The loss at home dropped the team back into the very crowded middle of the pack in Big East play, which was painful enough, but the manner in which the team lost made it even worse, as they couldn’t hit the broadside of a barn in the second half. Add to that the potential season-ending injury to senior leader and floor general Chris Wright, and this was an all around bad night. But, surprisingly, there are a few positives coming out of the game.

Today marked the trade deadline for the NBA, and the Oklahoma City Thunder traded Jeff Green to Boston.
After getting drafted by the Celtics as the #5 overall pick in 2007, Green was quickly traded to Seattle/Oklahoma City on draft day. Today, he returns to Boston, getting traded with Nenad Krstic for Kendrick Perkins and Nate Robinson.
