Leading Scorer Against ODU

By Hoya Hoops

Last game, almost everybody predicted the Hoyas would make more three pointers than they actually did. As it turns out, our original guess of eight 3’s with Sapp leading the way was closest, as the Hoyas knocked down seven and Jessie hit three of them. So congratulations to us! Now onto Wednesday’s game:

Last year, the Hoyas lost to Old Dominion with leading scorer Jeff Green only scoring two points. Roy Hibbert led the team that night putting up 17. So what’s gonna happen this year?

Who is going to lead the team in scoring against Old Dominion, and how many points will he score?

We at Hoya Hoops are going for a repeat performance down low and will predict Roy will lead the way again this year, once again scoring 17. What do you think?

CAA - Catching America’s Attention

By Tony

The Hoyas have a difficult road test tomorrow against Old Dominion. The Ted Constant Convocation Center is a very nice arena in Norfolk, Virginia. The Georgetown game has been sold out for a while, and the crowd will be hungry for a major upset. ODU comes from the CAA which is a much underrated conference. This game is a rare opportunity for a smaller conference to host a school from a power conference, and the Monarchs will be ready to make the most of it. Old Dominion will be playing for their fans and for their conference.

Big East - ACC Challenge

By Hoya Hoops
  • There were a number of Big East/ACC clashes during the Thanksgiving holidays. Marquette fell to Duke 77-73 in the finals of the Maui Invitational. Saturday, Seton Hall defeated Virginia 74-60, with Brian Laing leading all scorers with 25 points. And yesterday, North Carolina State edged out Villanova 69-68 in the Old Spice Classic Final. Gavin Grant made 2 out of 3 free throws with 0.4 seconds left to clinch the victory.
  • On Friday, #6 Louisville suffered its first defeat, losing by two to Brigham Young University, 76-74. Earl Clark missed a potential game-tying three pointer with under five seconds left.

Seven Years Ago

By Tony

On November 26, 2000, the Hoyas played in the Championship Game of the Hawaii Pacific University Thanksgiving Classic. After back-to-back wins over the University of Central Florida and the College of Charleston, the Hoyas faced Minnesota for the title. Georgetown won 76-60.

13 Top 25 Teams lose

By Hoya Hoops
  • Over the long weekend, Hollis Thompson, a 6-6 junior from Los Angeles, gave a verbal commitment to Georgetown University, adding another impressive signing to John Thompson III’s resume. Earlier this month, the Hoyas received a letter of intent from Greg Monroe, one of the nation’s top recruits.
  • Over half of the teams in the AP Top 25 bit the dust this past week, the most prominent being #6 Louisville. Joining the Cardinals in the loss column were #7 Tennessee, #8 Indiana, #10 Michigan State, #11 Marquette, #12 Oregon, #14 Gonzaga, #18 Kansas State, #19 Southern Illinois, #20 Villanova, #21 Syracuse, #23 Virginia, and #25 Florida.

A Georgetown Thanksgiving

By Hoya Hoops

For this week’s Game Time, we decided we’d keep it Thanksgiving related to allow Hoyas fans to count their blessings. So here’s the question:

What do Georgetown fans have the most to be thankful about this year?

We at Hoya Hoops are thankful that Big Roy came back for his senior season. While it would have been nice seeing Jeff and Roy making highlight reels in the pros, having a Georgetown big man staying for four years is reminiscent of the Glory Days of the program and is a harbinger for things to come.

Basically, we just wanted to use the word “harbinger” in our response. What do you think?

Johnny’s Ball State Postgame Thoughts

By Johnny

Teams

GU:
Not too great a performance for the Hoyas, especially in the 2nd half, but a win is a win. A lot of those shots will fall in a different game, so I think the bigger issue is the free throw shooting. The Hoyas went 8 for 17 from the line and are only hitting 55% of their free throws on the season. That’s something that definitely needs to be worked on before they reach the tough conference schedule.

Ball State Recap

By Hoya Hoops

The Georgetown Hoyas hung on to earn their first road victory and to improve their season record to 3-0 in Muncie, Indiana. Playing against an undermanned and undersized Ball State, Georgetown was expected to win this game easily, but the Cardinals kept the game close, falling to the Hoyas 57-48.
