- Allen Iverson had 30 points to go along with seven assists, but the Nuggets were unable to stop the Lakers, falling 128-114. Pau Gasol led all scorers with 36 points, and Kobe Bryant added 32 points, 28 in the second half, to push Los Angeles past the Nuggets. The next game in the seven game series is scheduled for Wednesday at 10:30 PM.
- The Houston Rockets continued their playoff woes, losing to Utah 93-82. Shane Battier led all scorers with 22 points, going 7-7 from the field. Tracy McGrady added 20 in a losing cause, but made only seven of 21 attempts. Game 2 is tonight at 9:30 PM
- In the 2008 Jordan Brand Classic, the Blue team representing the West came from behind to defeat the East coast White team 124-114. Greg Monroe was on the winning side, as was area high school coach Steve Turner from Gonzaga. Last year, current Hoyas Austin Freeman and Chris Wright participated in the all-star game.

At the Basketball Banquet on Wednesday, Coach Thompson announced that the team’s Most Outstanding Player was Roy Hibbert and its Most Valuable Player was Jonathan Wallace. It also came out at the banquet that Tyler Crawford was the team’s funniest player, so we thought it was only natural to ask this question.
What other individual honors should go out to the Hoyas?
You could say things like Most Intensity should go to Patrick or Best Defense to Jeremiah, but since these Game Times are supposed to be fun, we’re gonna say Most Diva goes to Roy. He had the most halftime wardrobe changes on the team, switching from undershirt, to cut-off, to no undershirt whenever he felt he wasn’t being Monster enough.
What do you think?

Last night, Georgetown honored the 2007-08 Men’s Basketball Team at the Hoya Hoop Club Basketball Banquet. We know that a lot of you were unable to make it, so we had decided to send a Hoya Hoops representative to the Leavey Center to provide some details to those who missed out. I was that representative, and while I am not going to give you a full recount of what took place, I’ll do my best to talk about the highlights.

The Phoenix Suns defeated the Golden State Warriors 122-116 Monday night, which means that the Denver Nuggets secure a playoff berth in the West. It takes the pressure off of Denver, who are still mathematically alive for a seventh seed. They say that when you are playing well, things go your way, and the Nuggets are starting to click at the exact right time. And perhaps no one in the NBA is playing as well as Allen Iverson.

Last week, Tony talked about how the Hoyas had a bad stretch when almost every single season some key unexpected player left Georgetown. Here, we break it down specifically year by year, listing those key people who left the program.

This past weekend, I drove down to southern Virginia to watch Patrick Ewing, Jr. and Jonathan Wallace perform in the 56th annual Portsmouth Invitational Tournament. The tournament, known for being a showcase for college seniors in front of NBA scouts, has sent its players to fifty professional leagues around the world, including the NBA.

- Allen Iverson had 33 points, seven assists, seven rebounds and four steals in a 111-94 win over Houston to move the Denver Nuggets one step closer to the last playoff spot in the Western Conference. Their magic number is now one, meaning the only way Denver misses the playoffs is if they lose the final game of the season to Memphis and the Golden State Warriors win their remaining two games.
- Jonathan Wallace and the Norfolk Sports Club finished sixth in the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament. Wallace averaged six points and over six assists in three games.
- Patrick Ewing Jr. led his team Cherry, Bekeart and Holland in blocks, but injured his ankle on Friday and did not play in their final game. The team was victorious without Ewing, sealing a seventh place finish.

With the NCAA Championship game ending on Monday, it’s now time to come up with the all-tournament team. There are probably hundreds of such lists already out there, so we at Hoya Hoops decided to do it a little differently. We are picking the people who made the tournament especially memorable for us, but not due to their play. Due to their names. So, here are our All-Tournament names:

Well, the 2008 NCAA Tournament is finally over. It didn’t end the way that many Georgetown fans would have liked, but as it is in sports, there’s always next year. In the championship game, some poor free throw shooting from Memphis set the stage for Mario Chalmers’ game-tying, overtime-forcing three pointer, which made highlight reels around the country. So now that the tournament is done with, we decided to pose this question:
What was your favorite moment from this year’s NCAA Tournament?
We’d probably go with West Virginia beating Duke. The Hoyas didn’t get to play the Blue Devils this year, but it was nice to have another Big East team take them down on Georgetown’s home court.
What do you think?

There are many fundamentals that are stressed in the game of basketball. Box out. Play defense with your feet not with your hands. Follow your shot. Don’t be a diver. But perhaps the most critical of all these is: Make your free throws.
