Georgetown at Syracuse

There hasn’t been a Georgetown-Syracuse game played in the Carrier Dome with the stakes this high for a long time. It is possible that this meeting has the most riding on it of all the regular season games ever played at the Carrier Dome in this rivalry. A loss for either team could easily result in an NIT appearance. Both teams will be desperate to avoid such a fate. With that in mind, let’s take a look back at some of the more memorable Georgetown-Syracuse games played at Syracuse. Georgetown vs. SEC

College basketball has two premier conferences - the Big East and the SEC. Top to bottom these are the toughest conferences in America every single year. The ACC, Big Ten and Big 12 always have great teams, and the PAC-10 almost always does too. Occasionally, Conference USA or the Atlantic 10 will have one team that is among the nation’s elite. But when you’re talking about conferences as a whole, where every team is a tough opponent every single night, the Big East and SEC have separated themselves over the past thirty years.
