Sometimes you are forced to make tough decisions: decisions that will not only impact your life and the lives of your family, but the lives of thousands of other people. I’ve been lucky enough to never have to make such an important decision. Roy Hibbert was confronted with such a dilemma 10 months ago. Hibbert chose to turn down a job in the NBA to stay in school. He had to say, “I want to turn down a million-dollar offer and a lifestyle of ultimate luxury so that I can go to class, eat cafeteria food, and take final exams.” He made the right choice.

Jonathan Wallace is one of the best free throw shooters in the history of Georgetown basketball. And on more than one occasion, he has gone to the stripe with the outcome of the game hanging in the balance. We all know how clutch he is and are all very thankful to have such a great free throw shooter on the line in close games. But, personally, there is something that impresses me more than his free throw makes.

Anybody who has even moderate interest in this year’s Georgetown Hoyas knows two things about Jonathan Wallace: he started his career as a walk-on, and he made a critical shot against North Carolina to help the Hoyas get to the Final Four last season. But if that’s all you know about Jon Wallace, you’re missing the real story. It would be like knowing two things about Beethoven: he was German and played the piano.

Patrick Ewing Jr. has made some critical plays during his career. We all remember his last-second heroics in Morgantown, and his defensive efforts against Syracuse. Even his role in the Marquette game was essential to victory. But the play that sticks out to me as the quintessential Pat Jr. play happened during last year’s Final Four run.

Throughout his career, opposing fans have been giving Patrick Ewing Jr. a hard time. Occasionally you’ll hear one of them yell something like, “You’re a bum compared to your father!” To be honest, that seems more of a compliment. Pat Jr. knows he’s not as talented as his father. How could any of his children be as good as Patrick Ewing himself? It’s the same predicament that Michelangelo’s children had to live with. Even though Patrick Jr. isn’t the best player in the country like his dad, there is still a lot of Big Pat that shines through in his son.

Tyler Crawford started his first and only game as a Hoya in the 2006-07 season opener against Hartford. What many people remember about that game, if anything, is that Tyler went 1-8 from three point land. But, look a little closer and you will see the real Tyler Crawford. The first five minutes or so of that game, for me at least, summarizes his career. Tyler had 2 steals, 4 rebounds - one of them offensive - and a foul. That is the essence of Tyler Crawford.

The Princeton Offense is a very unique style of basketball. Besides all of the complex specifics of the X’s and O’s, the concepts are unusual too. So often the success and worth of individuals is based upon their statistics. But within the Princeton Offense, individual stats are almost irrelevant, and they are worthless when trying to assess a player’s ability and value. No player exemplifies that concept better than Tyler Crawford.
