Georgetown:
A rather unimpressive win for Georgetown. With the bottom team in the conference coming to Verizon Center, perhaps the Hoyas failed to take their opponent seriously. They started sloppily, and only after halftime did the Hoyas finally start to put South Florida away. Also, for the second straight game, Georgetown took a sizeable lead midway through the second half, only to falter and let their opponents back into the game, this time going four minutes without a field goal. The Hoyas need to play hard for the full forty minutes if they hope to be successful against Louisville this Saturday. More »
It was an unimpressive effort put forth at Verizon Center, but the Georgetown Hoyas still managed to defeat the South Florida Bulls 63-53. The Bulls were the agressor from the outset, as they got off to a dream start to lead by as many as 10 points in the opening minutes. South Florida would have been ahead by even more had it not been for DaJuan Summers. Summers scored a career-high 24 points, including the first 11 for Georgetown, to keep the Hoyas within reach. Jessie Sapp made a transition three-pointer midway through the first half to give the Hoyas the lead which they did not relinquish. More »
Hey everybody, Johnny here at the Verizon Center. We’re 40 minutes from tipoff, and this place is empty. There are very few students, and with the opponent tonight and the non-basketball distractions such as the primary elections and Mardi Gras festivities, I’m not expecting an overwhelming turnout from the students.
Nevertheless, the Hoyas can’t overlook tonight’s opponent. Despite being at the two extremes of the conference, with the Hoyas in 1st place and the Bulls in sole possession of last, every game is a battle. And when you look at the history, Georgetown and South Florida have one win apiece since USF joined the conference three years ago.
I’ll check back in with the starting lineups shortly.
We’ve made another Rival Reels video for everybody, this one for the South Florida game tonight. It’s a documentary about the running of the bulls and on what makes the bulls run. We hope you like it.
Last game, we asked you to predict the number of points Seton Hall would score. As it turns out the Pirates scored 61 points, which makes us the winners with our guess of 62. Not too shabby.
Tomorrow, Georgetown takes on South Florida. The Hoyas played a pretty sloppy first half against Seton Hall, committing 13 turnovers en route to a season high 21 miscues, and they look to rectify that against the Bulls.
How many turnovers will the Hoyas commit?
We think this team has learned its lesson, and will take care of the basketball. Our guess is eight. What about you?
