Let It Snow

By Hoya Hoops

We made this Rival Reels video for the Syracuse game. We were a little disappointed that they didn’t show it at the Verizon Center, but we think it’s worth a look. Especially since we won.

Mike’s Syracuse Postgame Thoughts

By Mike

Teams

Georgetown:
The Hoyas gritted this one out. The game was similar in many respects to the UCONN game. Georgetown trailed by two possessions late in the game, this time with under two minutes to play, and still managed to get the points on the offensive end and the stops on the defensive end to win it. A very good team effort.

Syracuse Recap

By Hoya Hoops

It was another chapter in the epic series between the two best teams in the history of the Big East Conference, as Georgetown defeated Syracuse 64-62 in overtime in front of a capacity crowd at Verizon Center. Syracuse freshman Jonny Flynn missed a three-pointer at the buzzer that would have won the game. The contested 30-footer rattled around the rim before bouncing out and sending the home crowd into a frenzy. The Hoyas remained perfect at home and remained the only team in the Big East with only one loss.

Syracuse In-Game Thread

By Johnny

Hey everyone, Johnny here at the Verizon Center. It’s crazy here, and we’re still over half an hour to tipoff. There was a line outside the arena stretching longer than I have ever seen here in Chinatown, and that was over an hour and a half before game time. Let’s see if the fans can keep up their good work.

The Inside Scoop on Syracuse

By Hoya Hoops

To help get the inside scoop on Syracuse, we got in touch with the guys over at CuseAdelphia, a blog about Syracuse athletics and Philadelphia Pro Sports. We gave them a little bit of info on the Hoyas, which you can view on their site, and they told us what they know about Syracuse. Here’s what they said:

Off the Pine

By Hoya Hoops

Before the Notre Dame game, we asked everybody how many points the Irish would score. Sam said that the Hoyas would allow 70 and it turns out that Notre Dame could only muster 65. Regardless, Sam was closest, so good for him.

And now for this upcoming game. The Hoyas face Syracuse tonight, and due to injuries, the Orange only have six guys who have played in all 19 of their games. That’s a lot of minutes being played by very few players, and that got us thinking about the Hoyas’ bench production.

How many minutes will the Georgetown bench play, and how many points will they score?

We’ll say the Hoya bench will be in there for about 43 minutes, and they’ll combine for 13 points. What do you all think?

Hoyas Win Blowout, ‘Cuse Loses Devendorf

By Hoya Hoops
  • The Hoyas won their only game at McDonough, destroying Radford 110-51 on Saturday night. Austin Freeman led all scorers again and scored a career high 21 points as five Hoyas ended up in double digits.
  • Syracuse guard Eric Devendorf will miss the remainder of the season after tearing the ACL in his left knee during Saturday night’s game against ETSU. Syracuse already lost junior guard Andy Rautins to an ACL injury over the summer and only has six active players who have played 100 minutes so far in the season.
