West Virginia In-Game Thread

By Johnny

Johnny, checking in from MSG. Here we are an hour away from tipoff of the Big East Tournament Semifinal game between the #5-seeded West Virginia Mountaineers and the #1-seeded Georgetown Hoyas.

Things are pretty quiet here as the fans are just about to be let in, but there were plenty of Georgetown fans that I saw lining up outside the gates. It’ll be a tough battle as usual tonight, as this Mountaineer team just dismantled the UCONN Huskies yesterday afternoon. Joe Alexander and company will have their hands full today though as Georgetown did some dismantling of their own, setting the stage for an exciting semifinal game.

I’ll be checking with lineups, info, and commentary as usual. You can chime in yourselves below.

Johnny’s Villanova Postgame Thoughts

Teams

Georgetown:
Georgetown came out firing on all cylinders, as it seems that the extra day of rest had them more motivated and energized for the game. The Hoyas hit ten first half three pointers, and ended up going 17-28 from downtown. When Georgetown starts out shooting well from outside, they are tough to beat. When they start out shooting unreasonably well, like they did yesterday against Villanova, they are almost impossible to stop.

BET Quarterfinals: Pittsburgh vs. Louisville

The Big East showed just how powerful a conference it was in the third quarterfinal in Madison Square Garden, as the 7th seed Pittsburgh Panthers defeated the #2 seed Louisville Cardinals 76-69 in overtime. The game was an epic battle as both teams played with maximum effort and tenacious defense. Louisville had the ball trailing by two in the final minute of regulation when Earl Clark grabbed an offensive rebound and scored to tie the game. The Panthers had a chance to win the game at the buzzer, but Levance Fields’ contested three-pointer was off the mark.
