Georgetown:
It wasn’t the prettiest of games for Georgetown, but like Coach Thompson said, “A road win in this league is good. There’s no two ways about it.” The Hoyas played well enough to beat an overmatched Rutgers team. The Hoyas need to work on their rebounding, since other Big East opponents won’t be as forgiving with second chance opportunities as Rutgers was, but Georgetown made up for it by making nearly half of their 23 three point attempts.

Johnny here at the RAC getting ready for the Hoyas’ Big East opener against the Scarlet Knights. Like Georgetown, Rutgers students are on Christmas break, so hopefully this place won’t get as loud as it is known to get.
There’s some pregame bad news for the Hoyas: Chris Wright will not be dressed today as I hear he rolled his ankle. I don’t know the severity of the injury, but I don’t think it should be cause for too much concern.
Here are your starting lineups.
For the Hoyas, it’s the same as last week: Wallace, Summers, Freeman, Sapp, and Hibbert.
For the Knights: Farmer, Pettis, Inman, Coburn, and Griffin.
The board here at the RAC actually says that #11 is starting for the Hoyas, but I believe that is probably a mistake, and so I threw in that it would be Summers instead of Jansen.

There are no must-win games in college basketball until March. You can be 0-30, win 7 straight games and be in the Final Four. It’s not likely, but it is possible. That’s the beauty of college hoops, and that’s also why there is no sporting experience like the conference tournaments in spring. That being said, the closest thing to a must-win is the opening game of the Big East Conference regular season.

Last week, we asked everybody who would have the most points against American and Fordham, and over the weekend, Summers just edged out Jonathan Wallece, scoring a combined 31 points in those games. DJ was the closest, saying DaJuan would end up with 34, and so he is this week’s winner.
As the Hoyas head out to New Jersey to start Big East play, Georgetown will have to step up their play to stay on top of the tough competition. The Big East is all about defense, and so here is the pregame question for Rutgers:
How many points will Georgetown allow against Rutgers on Saturday?
We’re gonna go with 53 points, and we’re hoping that the Hoyas will score at least 54.
Your turn.
