Sleepover

By Johnny

If you asked me to describe this past Wednesday’s game against St. John’s in one word, I would probably say “Sleepover.” Most likely, you would then ask me what the heck I was talking about, so let me elucidate here.

Think way back to those sleepover parties you used to go to when you were in junior high. Do you remember what happened? Usually, you’d have some food (hopefully with cake afterwards), you’d play some silly games, you’d hang around and watch a movie you’ve seen a million times, and then you’d stay up late chit chatting about personal things. That is basically what happened a few days ago at the Verizon Center.

Mike’s St. John’s Postgame Thoughts

By Mike

Teams

Georgetown:
The Hoyas played uninspired basketball for nearly three-fourths of the game, but still managed a relatively easy victory. Turnovers and missed lay-ups hurt Georgetown and let St. John’s stay in the game. But, the Hoyas committed only one turnover over 10 minutes during a critical second half stretch to turn a tie game into a 13 point lead.

St. John’s Recap

By Hoya Hoops

DaJuan Summers scored a game-high 21 points, as Georgetown eventually wore down St. John’s to win 64-52. The Red Storm shot the ball well throughout the game, finishing the night 45.8% from the field, and Anthony Mason Jr. hit a three pointer to cut the lead to one with under 13 minutes to play.

St. John’s In-Game Thread

By Johnny

Hey all. Johnny here at the Verizon Center, eagerly awaiting the 9:00 tipoff in the second leg of this season’s home and home with St. John’s. I’ll have more info for you soon. In the meantime, you can find all you need to know right here.

A 32 Point Victory

By Hoya Hoops

On January 30, the Hoyas traveled to Madison Square Garden and crushed the St. John’s Red Storm 74-42, and it could have been worse. We thought that since the two teams meet again tonight, this would be a good time to look back at that victory to perhaps learn something from how that game played out and to just relive the memory.

Here’s the game page for that game, with our preview, in-game thread, box score, recap, and analysis. And just for fun, here’s the game we started that week about Hoya blowouts.

How Many Hoops?

By Hoya Hoops

Last time, we ask you tell us how many points the Georgetown bench would score. Hoya Gray guessed 16, which was exactly right. Nicely done.

This Wednesday, the Hoyas take on St. John’s at Verizon Center at 9:00 PM. Last time these two teams met, the Red Storm managed only two field goals in the entire first half. We thought this question would be fun:

How many baskets will St. John’s score in the first half?

As nice as two would be, we are going to say seven field goals, which will still require a solid defensive effort. What do you think? Post a comment with your guess.

Mike’s St. John’s Postgame Thoughts

By Mike

Teams

Georgetown:
The Hoyas utterly dominated the game in all aspects. The smothering defense kept St. John’s without a field goal for most of the first half, while the overpowering offense started the game on a 27-3 run. Even without perma-starter DaJuan Summers in the lineup, the Hoyas cruised to their easiest victory of the year.
