If you asked me to describe this past Wednesday’s game against St. John’s in one word, I would probably say “Sleepover.” Most likely, you would then ask me what the heck I was talking about, so let me elucidate here.

Think way back to those sleepover parties you used to go to when you were in junior high. Do you remember what happened? Usually, you’d have some food (hopefully with cake afterwards), you’d play some silly games, you’d hang around and watch a movie you’ve seen a million times, and then you’d stay up late chit chatting about personal things. On Saturday, the Hoyas play Marquette in the team’s last road game of the season. This is the farthest west the Hoyas travel in the Big East season, as Milwaukee is a tad farther than Chicago. Circumstances being what they are, we thought this was an appropriate question:

What should the Big East Conference be renamed?

We say it should be called, the Beast Conference, it looks and sounds similar, but you don’t have “East” confusing the people watching DePaul take on Cincinnati. Think you have a good name? Leave a comment.

For our last Pregame Predictions, we asked you to predict the number of first half baskets the Red Storm would score. St. John’s managed nine field goals, which means that HoyaSinceBirth was exactly correct on his first time playing. Congratulations!

The Hoyas take on Marquette on Saturday. The Golden Eagles have two of the top ten conference leaders in steals in Jerel McNeal and Dominic James. We are curious if that will inspire the Hoyas.

How many steals will Georgetown have, and who will lead the team?

We will say that the team gets nine steals, led by none other than Roy Hibbert. He did get his fair share of steals against St. John’s, after all. How many do you think the Hoyas will get? Let us know in the comments.

The Hoyas played uninspired basketball for nearly three-fourths of the game, but still managed a relatively easy victory. Turnovers and missed lay-ups hurt Georgetown and let St. John’s stay in the game. But, the Hoyas committed only one turnover over 10 minutes during a critical second half stretch to turn a tie game into a 13 point lead.

DaJuan Summers scored a game-high 21 points, as Georgetown eventually wore down St. John’s to win 64-52. The Red Storm shot the ball well throughout the game, finishing the night 45.8% from the field, and Anthony Mason Jr. hit a three pointer to cut the lead to one with under 13 minutes to play.

Hey all. Johnny here at the Verizon Center, eagerly awaiting the 9:00 tipoff in the second leg of this season’s home and home with St. John’s. I’ll have more info for you soon. In the meantime, you can find all you need to know right here.

On January 30, the Hoyas traveled to Madison Square Garden and crushed the St. John’s Red Storm 74-42, and it could have been worse. We thought that since the two teams meet again tonight, this would be a good time to look back at that victory to perhaps learn something from how that game played out and to just relive the memory.
